ónkos
Erscheinungsbild
ónk-os (ὄγκος) ónkos/dt.; Wrtdtng: "Gewölbe, Raum mit Wölbung, gekrümmter Raium"
Etymology 1
Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *h₁onḱos (“burden”), from *h₁neḱ- (“to take away”). It has also been claimed that all attestations can be understood from a meaning "swelling", from earlier "curvature", and thus ultimately identical to 'Etymology 2'.
Compare with the semantics of Latin mōlēs.
