Seht, welche großen Übel in solch einfacher, gelehrter Unkenntnis und solch abstraktem Verständnis wimmeln und sich verbreiten.

Deshalb führte Johannes, Bischof von Straßburg, am Sabbat vor dem Fest Mariä Himmelfahrt im Jahre des Herrn 1317 einen Prozess gegen die Begarden und die Schwestern in seiner eigenen Stadt, die behaupteten (1), dass Gott formal alles ist, was ist, und (2) dass sie Gott seien – und sich in ihrer Natur nicht von ihm unterschieden.
